I wish I could say that things are getting easier on the 5AM club 66 day days of change challenge, but they’re not. Each day is its own challenge for me but I’m pressing on. Today I slept in so I started my hour of power at 6:30AM, which is still pretty good when compared to the 10AM mornings that I used to have. So my chin is still up and I’m marching forward with a smile 😀
6:30 AM Move that body – I got moving pretty easily today. It’s surprising what an extra one hour and thirty minutes does for you. I would like to make this the 7AM club. I would do that so easily! 🤪
But anyway, I did 200 pushups and 100 situps. I also did some aerobic workout and I was sweating before the twenty minutes was up. It’s the end of summer here in Istanbul so the morning are quite warm already.
6:50 AM Reflection time – I’ve stuck to the same routine as previous mornings, using the first half of the 20 block to write in my journal and the second half being used to work on a plan for the day ahead.
I’ve actually started numbering the order of my tasks to do for the day. So I’ll start with something important, then easy, then important, and so on. It might be a little too structured for me though as I like to do things when I feel like doing them. I’ll continue it for a few days though to properly test it.
7:10 AM Build that brain up – I re-read my notes from the 5AM Club by Robin Sharma. I only did this for about the first 10 or 15 minutes though as it was starting to feel a little repetitive. I’ve read the notes multiple times already.
So I started watching some educational videos on Youtube. I was learning about different advertising and affiliate networks online. Checking which ones could work best for my IamAffs.com website and a few others. Some options that I like include Amazon associates, Google Adsense, and Mediawise. I’ll first focus on producing value with quality content and work on increasing my traffic numbers.
10th Day of the 5AM Club Book Morning Routine Challenge
So I’m now into double figures, 10 Days!! Honestly, I wasn’t even sure if I would get this far with the challenge as I know how stubborn I can be and I also know how much I like to stay in bed of a morning. But here I am, still in the saddle and keen to go all of the way with this challenge.
I was fairly productive throughout the day and got most of my tasks completed. I know this is going to sound like an excuse but I think I could be even more productive if the days weren’t so hot. I don’t have any fan or air conditioning in the apartment here and it’s the end of summer here in Istanbul. I’m hoping the weather gets a little cooler in the coming weeks though as August is nearly over and Autumn is knocking on the door.
Exercise: 250 push ups, 100 sit ups, lifted weights, walked for 70 minutes.
Diet: I ordered a kebab but didn’t eat the bread, so it was pretty much just meat and salad. Diet, not too bad. Could improve.
How Could I Improve?
Don’t let myself reach starving levels as I’m then more likely to choose unhealthy options. Consider some healthy snacks that are easy to access. Eat more regularly than just 2 or 3 big meals.
Definitely keep away from supermarkets and food places when I’m rabidly hungry.
And, I’m usually pretty good with this, especially during summer, but remember to drink more water.
Conclusion for Day 10 of the 5 AM Club Habit Installation
I’m doing pretty well. Sometimes I’m harsh on myself when I don’t get up at 5AM or I cheat a little with food, but overall I have radically improved my ways in a very short period of time. I’m still not even close to making any of it a lifetime habit but things are definitely more familiar to me. My body knows what is coming and my mind is much more accepting of the new habits.
I think I’m doing less complaining and working more on how to live with these new habits. It’ll take more time but I really do believe that I can install this morning routine and adapt it to my way of living.
