Today I was up on time for my 5AM Club morning routine. It was a flat day yesterday but today I felt stronger and more able to get through my pushups. It’s like my body needed two days off from intense exercise to grow and raise me to the next level of strength and endurance.
5AM Wake up and Sweat: I usually do 100 push ups and 100 sit ups before doing some aerobics that get my legs moving and give my arms a rest, then I do my next 100 push ups. But today I was able to do the full 200 pushups in one sitting.
This doesn’t mean I can do 200 push ups without breaks as I do have short breaks in between sets. So today I did 50 push ups, then 33 sit ups, then another 50 pushups, then 33 situps, then another 50 pushups, then 34 situps, then the last 50 pushups. If I have to pause for a couple seconds to get my breath while doing a set of 50 push ups I do.
The main take away for the day was that I felt much stronger after a 2 day break.
5:20AM Think, Dream, Plan: I’ve definitely settled on using at least ten minutes of this block of time for writing in my daily diary. I can let my hair down, review the previous day, and think about today. There’s no structure to how I write, I simply write and whatever comes out, comes out.
I’ve also been using an I AM journal, writing about my life as though I have already achieved my major life goals. So I’m fit and healthy, I’m super wealthy, I’m in a great relationship, I’m confident, and I’m happy.
5:40AM Learning time: I’m reading the “What doesn’t Kill Us” book by Scott Carney again. He’s at the Wim Hof training center in Poland and has just gone through some cold training in the snow. He was there for one week and he finished his stay off with a hike up a freezing cold, snow covered mountain in hiking boots and a pair of shorts.
His plan was to expose Wim Hof as a fraud but now he has become a promoter of the man. After going through the week long training himself and seeing the results first hand he has had to reevaluate everything.
It’s an easy to read book too. I read past the allotted twenty minutes for my hour of power as I wanted to keep turning the pages.
16th Day of the 5AM Club Morning Routine Challenge
I woke up on time and filled with energy today. I remained focused and confident throughout the whole day, so it was very productive.
Later in the morning I did have an extra one hour sleep though as I got less than 6 hours sleep during the night. I need at least 7 of sleep to feel good the whole day long.
I’m also continuing to experiment with cold showers, inspired by the “What Doesn’t Kill Us” book that I’m reading at the moment. I’m just showering the bottom half of my body with cold water for a couple of minutes and then slowly introducing warmer water to shower the rest of my body. I know this sounds like I’m cheating but hey, it is what it is.
Who knows, maybe I’ll be doing my 70 minute walks in the Istanbul winter in my boots and shorts? 💪 Autumn has just started here so I still have a few months to experiment with the cold water before the cold weather gets here.
Exercise: 250 push ups, 100 sit ups, and more than 75 minutes walking.
Diet: Kept away from sugar and wheat.
How Could I Improve?
Nothing new here, just get to bed earlier. Also, I don’t think I should sleep more during the day. Even if I’m super tired I should stay awake until the night. This will encourage me to go to bed earlier. If I can master the early to bed part then the early to rise part will take care of itself. Easy in theory, hard in practice.
Conclusion for Day 16 of the 5AM Club Challenge
I would say all is going well. The important thing is that I’m working on improving all aspects of my life a little bit each day. So if I can become a little healthier today, a little fitter, a little wealthier, and a little happier then all of these things will accumulate and become reality over time.
I’m depositing tiny amounts of health, fitness, wealth, knowledge, and happiness into my bank account each day. These will add up over time and start having their own babies. Before long they’ll snowball and start growing by themselves. So I’ll continue adding my little bits each day and they’ll be doing their bit, then Boom.. life is good, life is amazing!
