This morning I was undecided whether to wake up at 5AM or not as it’s the weekend. I ended up not setting the alarm and seeing when I wake up naturally. I ended up getting out of bed at about 5:40AM which is pretty good for a guy who used to wake up at about 10AM. So I have made a lot of progress with this Robin Sharma morning routine.
5:50AM Move that body: My first 50 push ups are always difficult. I warm up first and then ease myself into my push ups. I do ten, then pause for a few seconds, then another 10 and repeat until I do 50 push ups, which is my first set.
Then I go straight into doing 50 sit ups before going back to push ups. My second set of push ups are much easier as my body is ready for it and I feel much stronger. I sometimes do the whole 50 push ups without any pausing, but sometimes I can’t do the entire 50 and will have a micro pause or even two at times. There’s always variables in terms of strength and energy.
I also did 200 sit ups. 150 of these were my normal crunches and 50 were new abdominal exercises that work on different areas. I can’t explain the areas or name the exercises as this is all very new to me! I’m an artist, not an athlete! I might be able to draw the naked body but I don’t know a whole lot about what the parts are called or how it works.
6:10: Think and contemplate: Much like every other day this past week I have spent half of my time on the daily diary and the other half on goals or things that I would love to happen. I seriously recommend doing both. I look forward to doing them actually. It’s my favorite 20 minute block of time from the 20/20/20 morning routine.
6:30 Learn and Grow: I’m continuing to read the Scott Carney book called What Doesn’t Kill Us. I find that my concentration seems to wander when he is talking about the science behind the body. But then he starts talking about Wim Hof and his breathing techniques or his ice baths and I’m perked up and focusing again. I should look more into Wim Hof. I’m not sure if he has written any books but I know that he has a Youtube channel and has plenty of information online (including paid training which I was just reading about in the book).
25th Day of the 5AM Club Habit
So all in all, life is good. I believe that my discipline in getting up at 5AM every morning this week played a large part in the extra energy I had. I hope to replicate that discipline next week and indefinitely. This has to be a lifetime habit if it improves my life and makes me feel better on all levels. I would be an idiot to stop it.
Exercise: 250 push ups, 150 sit ups, did weights.
Diet: Good but could be improved. I need to get extreme with sugar and processed food!
How Could I Improve?
Make sure that I repeat the 5 days in a row of 5AM wake ups. Not 5:15 or 5:32, but 5:00 or earlier. Not a minute later.
Combine my disciplined wake up times with a disciplined diet and the energy will flow. I need to be more conscious of my food choices.
Conclusion for Day 25 of the 5AM Club Morning Routine
I’m doing well but could be doing even better. I’m not sure how others go when they first start the 5AM club morning routine but I have struggled. I’ve slept in, cheated, got angry and quit, skipped work outs, and have fought with myself every morning, pleading to just go to sleep for another hour. It’s not easy. It’s tough. Especially if you’re not usually a morning person.
But I’m pushing on and after this week, I think it might have even become a little easier. I’m looking forward to next week!

Hope you had a great week!
