Third day of this mountainous morning routine challenge and I’m still in the game. I got out of bed at 4:45 AM, 15 minutes earlier than required, but that was probably my highlight of the day. The second day was a little challenging, but the third day was more of a struggle. But I persisted and successfully completed my hour of power, so, winning! Kind of..
5:00AM. Get Moving! By the time I washed my mouth out and cleaned my face it was 5:00 A.M. I got moving and did a total of 200 pushups, 100 situps and some jogging and punching to get sweating.
It definitely wakes you up. It feels totally unnatural when you first start moving but feels better once you’ve warmed up.
5:20AM. Reflecting. Again I did the daily diary during this period. I’m finding it really helpful to just unload anything on my mind before the day starts. It’s not just problems that I write about, it’s also the good things. So I’m writing about the things that I’m thankful for, the things that I’m working towards, and I’ve also started some of my I AM affirmations during this time.
About half of the 20 minute period is dedicated to planning the day ahead. Perhaps I could improve this though.
5:40AM. Growing. Once again I also continued to read the 5AM Club book by Robin Sharma. I’m very close to finishing it and only have a handful of pages left.
I’ll get another book to replace this one with soon as I’m really enjoying the time I spend reading in the morning. My mind is fresh, it’s quiet outside and I feel like I can properly focus on the book and absorb the information much better.
Third Day of the 5 A.M. Club Challenge
This was another challenging day for me but I can say that I successfully did the hour of power and I’m still in the club! I still haven’t got my sleeping pattern fixed as I’m just not getting to bed early enough. The transition from night owl to early bird hasn’t been an easy one for me, but I will persist. I believe in this morning routine and I will make it a habit.
I also slept for about an hour throughout the day, partly because I knew I was going to be out late later in the night. I was going to a concert that didn’t start until after 10PM, soooo, this should be interesting 😎
Exercise: I ended up doing 400 push ups, 100 sit ups, annnnd lots of dancing with a glass of wine in my hand!
Diet: All good except for the excess of red wine that I had at the concert! More about this in tomorrow’s post. Doing well with cutting right back on sugar and wheat too.
How Could I Improve?
That’s an easy question, don’t drink so much alcohol. It’s fine to stay out late and enjoy yourself I believe, but drinking too much red wine wipes out your whole next day. Drinking so much also affects you on an energetic level and I believe that could take days to recover from rather than just hours. So I should stick to one or two glasses maximum.
5AM Club Conclusion for Day Three
I’m really not doing as well as I had hoped with this morning routine but I’m still committed and dedicated to making this work. I have really blown my fourth day with a very late night and too much red wine, but you’ll see more about this in my post tomorrow. It should be the absence of a post as I completely failed, but I should also post my failures and learn from them.
