The 5th day of the 5AM Club challenge has been much more successful than the failure of a day yesterday! It wasn’t perfect as I’m rebuilding after day 4 but I’m still happy with my effort. I was an hour late as I started at 6AM but I still went through the whole 20/20/20 process and I had a productive day.
6:00AM. Get Moving. It felt strange today as I’m up an hour late and it’s daylight by this time. I went through the process though, I’m owning my morning and elevating my life! I ended up doing 200 push ups, 100 sit ups and the remainder of the time was spent jogging, dancing and punching.
So I was sweating, wide awake and ready to take on the day ahead!
6:20AM. Reflection. Like the previous days I worked on the daily diary most of the time during this 20 minute block. I had a lot to write about as I had completely failed on day 4. I’m really finding this part of the morning routine very helpful. It’s like starting the day with a clean slate.
I also worked on a plan for the day with my “to do” list. I’m starting to have 5 essential tasks to complete that are non negotiable and preferably should be done during the first half of the day when we’re most focused and productive. The rest of the jobs on my to do list would ideally be done too but I won’t beat myself up if they’re not finished.
6:40AM. Grow. Today I finished the 5 AM Club book by Robin Sharma. I read past the 20 minutes allotted as I wanted to finish it today. It felt appropriate that I should finish the 5am club on day 5 of my 5am challenge 😉
And, I highly recommend it, even if you think you’re not a morning person and have no intention of getting up at such an ungodly hour, ever. It’s written in an entertaining manner and there’s plenty of good advice in it. So grab a copy!
5th Day of the 5AM Club Challenge
This felt like a rebuilding day after my disaster yesterday. Besides starting one hour late at 6AM I think it was a relatively successful day. Back to exercises, back to eating good, back to thinking good, and I’m working on increasing my energy levels. So all in all, today was a good day.
I also started using dumbells for the first time. So I did fewer push ups today but I probably worked my muscles harder as I was lifting weights and doing new exercises. At the end of the day I could feel that my muscles were sore so I definitely did something right 💪
I was also quite productive with work and finished a lot of jobs that I wanted to get done today. So I’m back on track and I’m keen to keep building on my successes.
Exercise: 250 pushups, 100 sit ups, 60 minutes walk and weight lifting with dumbells.
Diet: All good, no sugar. I had dinner a bit later than usual but it was still healthy. No bread.
How Could I Improve?
Just work on getting to bed earlier. The biggest struggle I’ve had with the 5AM club is the 5AM part!! If it was the 8AM club I would be doing it easily but it’s not! I will persist.
Continue working on the to do list too. I think the 5 essential things to do list is a good idea and it seems to work for me. I’ll adjust it over time though until I work out the perfect system for me.
Conclusion for the 5th Day of the 5AM Club Challenge
I’m back on track and things are going well. My energy is building and I’m much more confident about life and the direction I’m heading.
I haven’t thought much about how I will treat weekends on this morning routine challenge but I think I’ll at least wake up and start the hour of power at 5am on Saturdays. Sundays I think I will have the day off, so no alarm clocks. I’ll just wake up whenever I want. I’ll stay focused on the diet though.
I plan to do no exercise though. Maybe some walking but no weights, no pushups, and no situps.
So, to see my previous days on the 66 day challenge go here. Let me know in the comments below if you have done the 5AM club morning routine and how it has gone for you.
